The Red Star Ultra line of holographic films!

Some time ago we expressed our hopes to introduce soon a new film that would be closr to AGFA standards. It is with extreme pleasure that we can now inform you that this film is ALREADY AVAILABLE NOW! We thank you for your patience and we are sure that you will find this new generation of film to your full satisfaction. It can be developed with formulas normally used for AGFA, and the exposition times are BETTER than HoloTest! Together with our Russian partners - holographers, we are pleased to announce the launching of: Red Star Ultra - the new generation film, available both for red and for green lasers.

Technical specification:

Resolution	over 3000 / mm
Light sensitivity	80-100 microJ /1 sq. centimeter
Diffraction effectiveness (maximum)	Over 40% can be achieved.
Emulsion thickness	7 microns
Acetate base thickness	140 microns

Red Star Ultra R (red-sensitive): Sensitivity range 600-680 nm makes it the perfect choice for HeNe lasers. For reflection and transmission holograms. Chemicals used for AGFA HoloTest 8E75 work fine on this material. Recommended, are Sodium Hydroxide/Phenidone and Catechol developers. Fine adjustment of final film color in orange-green range possible with special processing (information available on request). Safe storage time (at 30% humidity, 4-5°C): minimum 16 months.

Red Star Ultra G (green-sensitive): Sensitivity range 488-532 nm makes it the perfect choice for Argon lasers and pulsed YAG. For reflection and transmission holograms. Chemicals used for AGFA HoloTest 8E56 work fine on this material. Recommended, are Sodium Hydroxide/Phenidone and Catechol developers. Fine adjustment of final film color in orange-green range possible with special processing (information available on request). Safe storage time (at 30% humidity, 4-5°C): minimum 12 months.

For a quick comparison - this sensitivity translates to an average exposition of only 1-2 sec. for 5x5" film in a reflection setup, using 10 mw HeNe laser!

Some comments on Red Star Ultra film from our existing customers: "Now I finally got the chance to test the Red Star Ultra G towards Agfa Holotest 8E56. Two identical transmission holograms were recorded. Developed identically. Bleached in Iodine - Here I noticed a difference! Red Star Ultra G required twice the bleach time of Agfa Holotest 8E56. The holograms were observed in laser light and the reconstructed images were both beautiful, maybe with a little more brilliance to Red Star Ultra G - but taken into consideration that the Agfa Holotest 8E56 I used is more than 3 years old, I would not expect otherwise. So from my point of view Agfa Holotest 8E56 and Red Star Ultra G are compatible. With the great advantage to Red Star Ultra - it is in the market!!!!" "Dear Derek thank you for the green sensitive film sheets. I have tested them against the Slavich and they seem to be all right, slightly more sensitive in fact." Above comments confirm our tests; we placed two pieces of film, side to side. Agfa and Red Star Ultra. A contact copy was made from a gang master and films were developed together, processed the "AGFA way". Red Star copy was a bit brighter, with sharper contrast than AGFA and a bit more orange in color. Winner in our opinion: Red Star Ultra! We would be happy if you can share your comments with us!
