While traveling in Europe, we found a few interesting holograms worth
offering to our hologram collectors. We paid a visit to the great
holographer Detlev Abendroth - and asked him to search his collection
for some old, unique pieces he might be able to offer.
Here are the results of this meeting: a few very good holograms of
great collector's value:
HALLO
PAP - (not available any more)
Unique
hologram by Volker Miron. Created in 1987. Copy No. 10 of 10 (!!!),
size 30x40 cm., matted and framed, with signature and copy number.
Volker is one of Germany oldest holographers, who has achieved great
success in this field. Now he is one of the directors of Topac - Germany's
leading security hologram manufacturer. He has always pioneered new
possibilities in holography. This particular hologram is extremely
rare and unique due to a special (very difficult!) technique used.
The hologram shows an African tribal mask painted in typical bright
stripes. (Due to the incredible depth of this image it was extremely
difficult to photograph it and the picture here does not give justice
to this really beautiful hologram.) The mask floats about 25 cm on
front of the image plane (on the left). A double exposition shows
then two attractive girl's faces painted in a similar manner as the
mask - in stripes. The center face shows at the image plane, the one
on the right, shows way behind - about 25 centimeters deep!
The special technique allows for the use of two colors: green and
blue for these strips of paint. In order to create it, each holographic
plate had to be precisely coated with a special emulsion before exposition,
exactly in the spots where these strips were expected to be shown.
That makes each copy slightly different, and due to serious difficulties
only 10 copies were made.
The result? A most impressive, romantic image, full of expression
and charm, with great depth and sharpness, technically perfect and
unique. Price (framed): $2,950 Canadian Dollars (we negotiated a real
bargain price).
STILL
LIFE
by Lon
Moore, well-known holographer and creator of famous "Red Beam" line
of photopolymer holograms. Created in 1983, only 5 copies ever made.
First multicolor hologram. To create this image, Mr. Moore used his
special "sandwich" technique, which allowed to use three colors on
a single image - impossible in these days with regular techniques.
It was a very difficult task and each copy slightly differs from the
others.
This (and the next shown hologram) was the subject of many articles
and discussions in professional papers and at holography symposiums.
Size 4x5", Price (framed): $2,250 Canadian Dollars. One of the most
unique, desirable holograms for collectors.
SQUIGGLES
by Lon Moore. Another image from the same series of multicolor
experiments. Made with the same "sandwich" method as the previous
hologram, shows abstract pattern of light in multicolor. Good depth
and bright image. Only 5 copies were made, size 4x5", price $2,250
Canadian Dollars.
We
have also made available for purchasing the unique pulse hologram
of Nina Hagen - alternative musician of the seventies and early
eighties. Great portrait in size 8x10", made in very limited quantities.
Unfortunately we don't have the photograph at the moment, but for
seriously interested collectors we can get it from Germany.

This picture shows me, Derek (left), together with Detlev, in his
atelier in Germany, on front of his fantastic hologram "Zauberer"
showing a wizard. This hologram, made in edition of 200 copies, is
also available. It combines extremely impressive depth with enormous
sharpness and brightness of image. As usual with Detlev, it simply
shows absolutely the best technique possible!
And
here is the last one: one of the current Detlev's holograms - "Moving
Camera"! This is actually two-in-one set and it shows the
possibilities of computer generated holography to the full extent!
Mounted on a real LCD screen, upper hologram shows a circuit board.
When viewer moves, a tiny diode camera goes between electronic parts.
At the same time one can watch on the lower hologram the view through
that camera! Magnified electronic parts move smoothly, showing the
camera's surroundings! It is incredibly well done set with an interesting
concept. Motion is shown with stunning precision and overall quality
is just perfect! Matted in an interesting way and framed, it creates
very modern and interesting piece. Upper image is about 8x10"
size, lower about 5x8". It was made as limited edition of 14
pieces only! Price is only $980 Canadian Dollars. Below you can see
the close-up of both holograms with the tiny camera pointed by a blue
arrow...

...and
here is one more unique piece: HUGE transmission T-Rex hologram.
Size 1.2 x 1.8
meters! As
always with large transmissions, it needs more careful displaying
than reflection holograms, but when well set, it is sure to create
the center of attention even on a large hologram exhibition. Made
several years ago by known Australian company, which closed down 3
years ago.

Huge T-Rex skull with incredible deepth and sharpness projects on
front of the image! We do have one copy in perfect condition. If interested,
please contact us. We can offer it at real bargain price...
SOLD - SORRY!
If you are interested in large display holograms like this, please
contact us. we may have some other ones, in price range $3,000 - $6,000
Canadian Dollars.
If
you are interested in any of these images - please e-mail me ASAP.
These holograms are really unique, and once gone - they will be out
of reach! Thank you for visiting this page!
Best
regards
